Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Commemorate Int’l Day of Peace

The Ambs. of Peace and Friendship Group in partnership with UN Information Centre in Tehran, commemorated International Day of Peace at the UN conference room.
President of Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group Dr. Tayebeh Mohammad in her opening remarks welcomed the guests and briefly talked about activities of the Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group.
Afterwards, UNIC Director Dr. Maria Dotsenko, thanked Ms. Mohammad and the Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group for organizing the event and then read the message of the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the occasion of International Day of Peace.
The Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group proposed that Maestro Loris Tjeknavorian, the renowned composer and conductor to become Iran’s Ambassador of Peace to the United Nations, as he holds a record of over 70 years of brilliant artistic and humanitarian activities for the cause of saving human lives.
Founder of the Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group, Ms. Mohammad, stated that “no mother ever wants to see her son gets killed or kills someone else’s son in any war, so we hope no mother ever becomes subjected to this situation”. She said we hope there will come a day where the world will be free of violence, war and extremism and our children will experience peace.
Then, Dr. Sogol Mashayekhi read a poem she titled ‘Peace’, in honor of Iran’s ambassador of peace.
Scholars and prominent environmentalist figures were present in the ceremony under the topic of “Climate for Peace”. Environmentalist Mr. Mazdak Mir Ramezani spoke about climate changes as a threat or perhaps an opportunity. He continued his speech about global warming, emission of greenhouse gases and their destructive effects and the process of rising economic and social problems and added that it is possible to reach an international agreement on this global problem and change this threat to an opportunity. At the end of his speech, he congratulated Maestro Loris Tjeknavorian noting that: “Peace is important for all humans but a necessity for nature. I hope that future generations will hear the pleasant music of nature by establishing peace.”
Dr. Abolfazl Haghighi, the Director of Taftan Airlines was the next speaker who spoke on the subject of ‘Peace and social responsibility’ and the impacts of economy on sustainable peace.
The third speaker was Managing Director of Wildlife Research and Conservation Society Dr. Abdullah Salari who delivered his speech on the subject of “The impacts of climate change on wildlife”. He said we humans express our problems and issues because we have the power of speech but animals lack the ability to communicate with humans so their problems are multifold. In the next one hundred years, we will witness the extinction of over 80 percent of wildlife. He further elaborated on the environmental conditions of wildlife in the world. He also congratulated Maestro Loris Tjeknavorianand and expressed hope that sustainable peace will be established not only for humans but also for animals.
The last speaker of the meeting was Dr. Ardeshir Khorshidian a prominent Zoroastrian cleric and medical doctor who talked about “The culture of honoring climate in ancient Iran”. He praised the ancient Iranian culture for its respect for nature mainly four climatic elements of water, earth, wind and fire which were symbols of purity that ancient Iranians kept them clean. For his part, he congratulated Maestro Tjeknavorian and suggested that the UN invites all countries to contribute ten percent of their military budgets for saving the earth.
At the end of the session, Professor Hussein Baher gave a summary of the meeting and said through several months of work and hours of meetings with Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group, we completed our mission and by consensus chose Maestro Loris Tjeknavorian as Iran’s ambassador of peace to the UN. All of us at the Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group support Maestro Loris Tjeknavorian and will do our best to create a good world.
The special guests of this seminar were Mr. Gholam Hussein Amirkhani, Dr. Fereydoon Majlesi, actress Ms. Mitra Hajjar and Ms. Gol Mohammadi the deputy director of Tehran Province General Office of Sports and Youths.
