The Islamic Republic of Iran Army Command and Staff University marks International Day of Peace with UNIC

UN Information Centre (UNIC) was invited by Second Brigadier General Dr Hossein Valivand-Zamani, the Commander of Islamic Republic of Iran Army Command and Staff University, to mark jointly the International Day of Peace and to visit the first International Book Fair on Peace and Defense held at the University.

The Peace Day Ceremony also marked the closing day of the Book Fair.

The Second Brigadier General Dr Hossein Valivand-Zamani, Commander of the University said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran Army, along with other armed services, has constantly conveyed the message of real peace arising from faith and thoughts and based on justice and human dignity, and it has carried a message of peace, friendship and security to the world during the years of cooperation with international organizations and peacekeeping forces.”

Dr Dotsenko thanked the Commander of the University and the Director of the University Studies Center, Colonel Mehrdad Bakhshande for initiating cooperation with UNIC.  She spoke to some 200 audience on the history of the International Day of Peace and read the message of the UN Secretary-General on the Day.

Some women representatives of the civil society organization (Peace Soldier of Iran) participated in the Book Fair and informed the visitors about their work on peace in Iran.

The UNIC organized a workshop on “Finding UN Information and Documentation” by navigating through the UN website for some 40 commanders.

Copies of the UN Charter were distributed to the audience and Persian edition of “Basic Facts About the United Nations” was donated to the University library.

Additionally, historic pictures and documents depicting the special moments of UN-Iran partnership were displayed for the visitors of the Book Fair.
