Commemoration of International Day of Peace in Decade of Action for Sustainable Development Goals (DSGs)

The webinar began by the Director of the Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group, Dr. Tayebeh Mohammad’s remarks who welcomed the guests and gave a summary of the activities of the group over the past year.
Then, UNIC National Information Officer Mr. Mohammad Rajai-Moghaddam, read Secretary-General’s message on the International Day of Peace 2020.
Conductor and prominent musician Mr. Loris Tjeknavorian, spoke about peace and the world around it.
Secretary of the National Habitat Committee in Iran, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, briefed the participants on human settlement and peace.
Renowned Iranian actress Ms. Mitra Hajar, delivered a speech on peace and the environment.
Professor at the University of Florida Dr. Siamak Reza Mahjoor, delivered a lecture on modern education and peace.
Then, famous writer Houshang Moradi Kermani best known for his children's and young adult fiction and a finalist in 2014 for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, narrated one of his stories on the subject of peace, namely “The Story of the Forest”.
Psychologist and behaviorist Dr. Ali Babaeizad, elaborated on the subject of the mental system in peace making.
University professor Ms. Zahra Ahmadipour, spoke about peace and education.
Well-known Zoroastrian priest and ophthalmologist Dr. Ardeshir Khorshidian, briefed the participants on peace and religions.
Shahnameh (Book of Kings) narrator Ms. Tahereh Bahrami performed verses from Ferdowsi's Shahnameh on peace.
Istgah music band performed a few pieces during the webinar.
At the end of the virtual meeting, the group of women ambassadors of peace and friendship read a message of peace based on the SDGs targets in the local languages and dialects in Iran.
