TEHRAN, 29 December 2021 (UNIC) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in his New Year’s Message expressed hope that 2022 to be a year of recovery from the Covid pandemic.

TEHRAN, 17 January 2021 (UNIC) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in his statement on the Two Millionth death from the COVID-19 pandemic, while emphasizing that COVID-19 cannot be beaten one country at a time, urged vaccine manufacturers to step up their commitment to work with the COVAX facility.

• United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today in his message made a special appeal to religious leaders of all faiths to join forces to work for peace around the world and focus on our common battle to defeat COVID19. 

On the occasion of Children’s Day and Week, the Ministry of Interior and UNICEF announced the winners of the joint COVID-19 Art Competition for children called “We Are All Champions”.

235 million people worldwide will need humanitarian assistance and protection in 2021 - an increase of 40 per cent in a year.

UN-coordinated response plans presented today aim to reach 160 million of those most in need of life-saving support. The estimated cost is $35 billion.

  Fifty-six countries affected by humanitarian crises and the fallout of the pandemic are included. The UN Secretary-General calls on the world to “stand with people in their darkest hour of need”.

More than 100 countries from all parts of the world are participating. Two countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, including Islamic Republic of Iran, are taking part in the trial.
