Winners of UNICEF-Ministry of Interior COVID-19 Children’s Art Competition are announced

On the occasion of Children’s Day and Week, the Ministry of Interior and UNICEF announced the winners of the joint COVID-19 Art Competition for children called “We Are All Champions”. Winners were selected in different age groups from 3 to 19 years old as per the technical review of a Panel of Jury who were experts in the field of children’s paintings and writing. A total of 4272 works, paintings and miniblogs, were submitted to this competition from different provinces of which 70 were selected as winners who will receive certificate of appreciation and awards.

The winners in the painting section are:

• 1st place: Parnaz Goudarzi (6 years) from Kermanshah, Mersana Beigzadeh (8 years) from Kermanshah, Kiarash Samimitabar( 9 years) from Kermanshah, Hojjat Elhambakhsh (14 years) from Boshruyeh, Bahar Zolfaghari (16 years) from Tehran, Aida Doroudi (18 years) from Sari.
• 2nd place: Ava Dehestani (5 years) from Tehran, Shayan Jafari (10 years) from Tehran, Ilya Cheraghi ( 11 years) from Kermanshah, Najva Tatar (14 years) from Gonbad kavoos, Maedeh Taghizadeh (17 years) from Gonbad kavoos, Nafiseh Nazarian (19 years) from Yazd
• 3rd place: Aram Amiri (6 years) from Tehran, Ava Ardestani Rostami (7 years) from Shahre-Rey, Niki Adlpour(10 years) from Tehran, Ilia Afsharmand (13 years) from Tehran, Alieh Mangelipour (14 years) from Gonbad kavoos, Zahra Zamani (19 years) from Hadishahr

The winners in the miniblog section are:

• 1st place: Atrisa Barakpour (5 years) from Mashad, Amirali Bakhipour (8 years) from Yazd, Rasta Kuchaki (7 years) from Khoramabad, Faezeh Lakzaei (17 years) from Gonbad kavoos
• 2nd place: Armita Aghili (8 years) from Isfahan, Amirhossein Tavakoli (12 years) from Bandar Abbas, Mohammad Fathi (18 years) from Kamyaran
• 3rd place: Elin Memarzadeh Mashoori (8 years) from Maragheh, Zahra Alizadeh (9 years) from Miyaneh, Sina Bahareluei (13 years) from Shahre Kord, Parmis Amirian (14 years) from Kermanshah

UNICEF and the Ministry of Interior are thankful to all children and adolescents from the different provinces for their enthusiastic participation in the competition and to all organizations which shared the call widely through their networks including municipalities, governors’ offices, Education Departments and branches of Centre for Intellectual Development of Adolescents and Youth in different provinces.

A selection of art works will be published as a book called “We Are All Champion.” Selected artworks will also be printed as city billboards or framed pictures for hospitals and other venues where “champions of COVID-19” are working round the clock to help children and their families live a healthy life.

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, there will be no physical award ceremony, but the certificates of appreciation and awards will be sent to the winners’ mailing address.

A special appreciation goes to the Panel of judges who dedicated their professionalism in judging this competition on a voluntary basis, free of charge. The art works were judged against a number of criteria such as compatibility of artwork with the topic, originality/no copying from famous cartoon characters, creativity, expression of feelings and no assistance/intervention of adults.

 “We Are All Champions” art competition was launched by UNICEF and the Ministry of Interior as part of the Child-Friendly Cities Initiative to promote children’s engagement and participation across the country. The competition called on children and adolescents aged 3 to 19 to submit a painting or miniblog to express their feelings of admiration to “their champions” those in their city or neighborhood who are working hard to help families survive during the COVID-19 outbreak, such as health workers, fire fighters, shop-keepers, grandparents, etc.
