Virtual Seminar on Decade of Action for SDGs and World Population Day

- In order to promote the Decade of Action for SDGs and commemorate World Population Day, UNIC in partnership with Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group, held a virtual seminar with participation of intellectuals and artists on Tuesday 21 July 2020.

In her opening remarks Director of Ambassadors of Peace and Friendship Group Dr. Tayebeh Mohammad referred to SDG 11 and said making cities safe does not mean the absence of war, rather at the present time we are witnessing with the COVID-19 pandemic, the psychological and physical health play an effective role in the safety and security of cities and human habitats. SDG 11 refers to making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable by 2030.
Then, UNIC OIC Mohammad Moghadam, read the World Population Day 2020 message of UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem.
The other speakers of the conference were: Sociologist and Behaviorist Dr. Sogol Mashayekhi, Lecturer of Success and Life Skills Dr. Hamidreza Mohtashami and Actress Ms. Shabnam Gholikhani who delivered speeches on human beings’ relations and complex situations, crisis management in different societies and impact of Covid-19 on the lives of young people in the contemporary societies.
During the meeting, Mr. Erfan Tahmasebi, a young artist from Shushtar in southern Iran and his band played a musical peace. Also, Mr. Morteza Nadaf played Ney (traditional Iranian flute) for the participants.
