ESCAP and the Islamic Republic of Iran solidify partnership on disaster information

UN ESCAP and the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirmed their partnership by signing the administrative and financial agreement for APDIM
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirmed their partnership by signing the administrative and financial agreement for the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM).
The agreement was signed today by Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-SecretaryGeneral of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, and H.E. Mr. Seyed Reza Nobakhti, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to ESCAP.
The agreement provides APDIM with the required operational support to carry out its mandate to reduce human and material losses due to natural hazards and contribute to the efficient design, investment and implementation of disaster risk reduction and resilience policies.
APDIM strives to ensure that risk information, information capacity and application, and regional cooperation are in place and enhanced to support member States in the region in disaster risk reduction and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
